Nice to be hiking along the Gooseberry River again -- lots of ducks. Beaver

dams from last year appear to be gone. Lots of wood anemonoe and bellwort. A

little wet going along the Gooseberry and after leaving the Gooseberry. But

what a gorgeous birch forest. I had forgotten about the gorgeous older

maple forest the trail goes through. Mike's Rock gave a great view of the

new spring leaves and Lake Superior. Then of course the rocky route along

the ridge before climbing down to the Castle Danger parking lot is

absolutely one of the best parts of the whole trail. There is a little

spring that comes from beneath a tree and goes down the trail a little ways.

A really beautiful section but definitely be prepared for hiking through wet areas!
