We utilized the shuttle service by parking our car and shuttling back to Lutsen. Because of heavy rain on Saturday the Poplar River was letting its presense be known long before we could see it. In fact you could hear it from our room at Caribou. The trail was in great shape. A blanket of leaves covered most of the distance making us a little nervous because we could not see our footing. The hike to the top of Moose Mtn was very demanding but made for good talk later in the hot tub. Across the top ridge line we came across a cut tree with a plate attached that read "Now heres a tree with a story to tell-May 8, 1999". We were curious if anybody knows the story behind this. Weather for the day was windy with a high of about 60. The wind made it chilly and hard to hear anything. Looking forward to coming back. We have a goal of hiking the entire length with in 7 years.
